An industry responsible for feeding babies should be a transparent one.

At Bobbie, we meet all FDA regulations and complete required third-party testing. But for us, that’s not enough.

Our Safety and Quality Pillars

Our 2000+ safety and quality checks verify that each product and batch meet nutrient specifications and safeguard infant health. We perform rigorous checks to ensure our products are free from harmful pathogens and heavy metals.

At Bobbie, we comply with FDA regulations and then we confirm quality and safety with third-party testing:

  • In light of the recent Canada Kendamil recall, we want to reassure you that Bobbie has been tested and confirmed safe from Bacillus cereus, the bacteria that can cause cereulide toxin.

Not only do we test for this bacteria at our U.S. manufacturing facility, but our supplier independently tests as well. You can rest assured that Bobbie was not affected by this contamination—and we do not use the same supplier linked to this recall.

Safety is baked into every step of what of our process. Always will be. To learn more about the recent European formula recall visit Health Canada.

  • New testing protocol: As of November 2025, we’ve added an extra layer of safety to our already rigorous protocol: SRC (Sulfite-Reducing Clostridia) testing. Sample batches of our whole milk powder are now screened by our supplier for certain spore-forming bacteria—similar to those that can cause infant botulism. If a sample tests positive, it would require further testing. Think of it as an early-warning system.

  • Increased environmental swabbing: Before we test a single batch, we test the environment where it’s made. Proactive environment testing is an integral protocol to prevent contaminants from reaching the product. Since acquiring our facility, we’ve increased environmental swabbing for contaminants tenfold each month—giving our Quality and Safety team a more frequent and thorough read on our production environment.

  • In-process production testing: Where many companies rely solely on end-product testing, we assess and confirm the material and microbiological quality of the powder before it’s allowed to proceed to canning.

  • Advanced foreign-material prevention: We use high-sensitivity equipment, including X-rays, magnets, and sifters to ensure the prevention of foreign material hazards.

Third-party auditing

We are subject to comprehensive routine and unplanned audits from the FDA and the Safety Quality Food Institute that ensure rigorous safety, cleanliness, and quality standards for infant manufacturing facilities:

  • FDA Inspection: An inspection of our production facilities to assess compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and quality control procedures. As a US-based manufacturing facility, we are subject to more frequent audits than foreign-made formulas. We welcome this level of critical observation as it supports our efforts to consistently update and invest in our manufacturing.

  • Safe Quality Food Institute Audit: SQFI is a globally recognized, voluntary certification that sets food and quality safety standards. As part of our November 2025 inspection, SQFI auditors gave Bobbie a score of ‘Excellence.’ This annual seal of trust from a third-party group ensures that Bobbie follows validated food safety controls, traceability and recall systems. We undergo continuous monitoring, documenting procedures and unannounced audits to maintain our certification.

Fewer hands on your cans. More control in ours.

From raw ingredient mixing to final canning, every step of Bobbie’s production happens under one roof before heading directly to our distribution centers. From the very beginning of the process, we take preventative measures so we have confidence in every test result.

Our recipes are backed by clinical evidence and built to support the growth and development of healthy babies. We meet all FDA regulatory requirements and most European nutritional standards because one standard is not enough. And we don’t stop there, we partake in additional third-party certifications to reinforce our standard of excellence:

USDA Organic Certification:

The USDA Organic Certification is regarded as one of the strictest organic standards in the world. This rigorous, federally-regulated certification requires strict agricultural standards like no synthetic pesticides, no genetically modified organisms, and no artificial additives. USDA Organic farming also prioritizes soil health and sustainability which can lead to more nutrient dense ingredients, reduced chemical residues compared to conventional farms, and supports biodiversity and reduces pollution for the planet. Three of Bobbie’s infant formulas are proudly USDA Certified which ensures that there are no synthetic pesticides, GMOs, artificial growth hormones or antibiotics, ever. In order to receive the USDA Organic Certification at least 95% of ingredients must be certified organic.

EU Organic Certification:

At Bobbie, our products have dual certification that meet the standards for the European Union Organic Seal through the recognition of the US/EU Organic Equivalency Arrangement. Europe follows strict ingredient standards and regulations that prohibit artificial additives, preservatives and genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and require transparency in labeling.

Clean Label Project Purity Award & Clean Label Project Certified Pesticide-Free:

Bobbie was the first-ever infant formula to receive both The Clean Label Project Purity Award and certification as a Pesticide-Free Product.

The Clean Label Project seal is an annual third party laboratory test for over 400 industrial and environmental contaminants and toxins including heavy metals, pesticides, and plastics. Bobbie is among the less than two dozen baby food or infant brands to have been able to make the commitment and achieve the strict CLP certification requirements.

Certified Pesticide Free ensures that Bobbie is free from 300+ of the most common pesticides such as glyphosate, the active ingredient in Round-up.

2025 Consumer Reports Top Choice:

Consumer Reports tested 41 powdered formulas made in the US and popular European brands sold in the US  for four key heavy metals, including arsenic, lead, mercury and cadmium as well as toxic chemicals like BPA, acrylamide, and PFAS. Of the 41 formulas tested, Bobbie was named a Top Choice, asserting that we have non-detectable levels of arsenic, lead, mercury, cadmium, BPA, and zero traces of acrylamide.

Heavy-Metal Screening:

Bobbie goes beyond current regulatory requirements by conducting independent, third-party testing for heavy metals.

Heavy metals like lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury are naturally-occurring in all foods through soil, water, and manufacturing processes. Because these properties are naturally-occurring in the environment, removing them from formula and other food products entirely is unattainable. Instead, the FDA encourages a "Closer to Zero" approach and European Union aims to keep them “as low as reasonably possible” also known as the ALARA method.

We actively avoid ingredients throughout our supply chain like fish oil (a DHA source), a known source of mercury and rice-based ingredients (like starch), known for natural high arsenic exposure.

Tracker

Want to know everything about your Bobbie can? Well, you can.

Just enter the lot code printed on the bottom of your Bobbie can to track its journey—like when it was made, what safety tests it passed, when it expires, and more.

Your lot code is either a 3-part code separated by underscores or a 7 digit code—here are two examples: 84703_030525_H10 or V13LWXC. Make sure to check your spacing and caps as the tool is case-sensitive.

We’re test obsessed. That’s why we’re named Top Choice by Consumer Reports.

We lose sleep over what goes into your baby’s bottle so you don’t have to. 2,000+ safety tests? Passed. We don't just claim "clean and safe." We certify it.

“Test-obsessed is the bare minimum. The real impact comes from owning our facility end-to-end, giving us the control to design safety into every step—long before any test is ever run.”
